Sandvik Mining and Construction announces the Sandvik NoiseGuard muffler system for surface top hammer drilling, with a suppression capacity of 10 dB (A) which means a considerable reduction in the noise levels of the site and in its surroundings. The system is designed for Sandvik DX type (former Tamrock Ranger) drill rigs.   Self-propelled, self-contained hydraulic crawler drill rigs with a revolving superstructure and articulated boom.  Can handle the roughest terrain.  Rigs drill quality holes from 51-127 mm in diameter to depths of up to 256 meters. Sithe Global Power LLC of Manhattan plans to treat abandoned mine drainage through both power production and by burning the by-products of past coal operations.  The company has a design for a 300-megawatt power plant and has begun the permitting process.  The power, enough to run 300,000 residences for a year, will be sold to an electric transmission grid, PJM Interconnections LLC.  The plant could be in production by mid-2013.  The coal is to be purchased mainly from PBS Coals Inc.’s Shade Preparation Plant.
